History
We started as an experiment in over-dubbing in 2003. The experimentation hasn't stopped. We have tried to keep our music free from worldly influence. Only God and people with more wisdom than us can say if we have succeeded.
We conceived the idea of a gospel quartet because good, grounded, Godly music is scarce. And while we don't claim to have talent, we are prayerfully trying to provide at least one more source of good music for a dedicated Christian.
Mission Statement
Our mission statement is two-fold. First, to be a blessing to our Church, which is why this website is here. Second, to provide Godly (not worldly) renditions of the hymns, spiritual songs, and gospel songs that are largely ignored by other singers.
What We Believe About Christian Music
You also won't find any drum sets or electric guitars here. We find that those instruments only make God's music sound just like satan's music. We have purposefully avoided any sound that might be considered a mainstream style. We believe that a Christian's music should be different than satan's worldly music. Just because a song mentions God doesn't mean it is Christian. (Psalm 40:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17) By worldly music, we mean worldly music with Christian lyrics, as well as with worldly lyrics. There isn't much talent in our group, but even so, Godly music with little talent is much better than music put out by talented, but worldly performers.
You may feel differently. But, if your desire for worldly music is greater than your desire to please God, then you my friend, are addicted to worldly music. I am speaking as someone who has been there and who would still be there, if not for the grace of God. You must put it away. Find some good, solid, Godly music that you can use to point your spirit toward the Lord.
Also, we want no glory for ourselves, only God. So, I'm afraid you won't find the names of the group members here. We will give credit to those who help us
You may write us about your opinion, but you probably won't change our minds.
Feel free to listen and download the songs. That's why they are here. All we ask is that you do not use our songs in your projects unless we have the right to affirm that we are walking in the same spiritual direction.
Your servants,
The Lighthouse Quartet
